I did manage to get a bit of sewing done this weekend
I finished off the laundry bag alluded to in a previous post. Here it is:
I used some of the beautiful fabric Mum passed on to me, that is lightweight and pretty. The pattern is just a simple drawstring bag. I have a cardboard template of the Hobo Sack from MADE, so I used that again but made it a little larger. Because I wanted to keep it lightweight, I didn’t line this one, so the overlocker came in handy for finishing off the seams.
Excuse my lumpy interfacing in the photo below, it looks worse on camera!
Also, I sewed up a little folder for my travel journal/pen etc. I bought a little bit of this great map fabric from Spotlight a long time ago, and I thought it suited this project perfectly!
The pattern comes from a great book I have called 100 Pretty Little Projects. It has some great gift ideas.
Of course, to make things harder for myself I had to make it bigger to fit my journal, and I also decided to swap around the pockets (so that the big pocket for the journal was not on the same side as the front cover, if that makes sense!). That meant my pen holder and lining fabric is now upside down, so I will keep that in mind if I ever make another one!
I think they will both come in very handy 2 more projects complete from my list for November.
