Introducing….Poppy & Daisy

Processed with VSCOcam with m5 preset

On a weekend that for the whole household was dominated by sore throats, headaches and general miserable-ness thanks to winter coughs and colds, there was a little bright spark – the arrival of two new pets – Poppy and Daisy the baby Guinea Pigs.

Izzy Charlie Collage

Izzy’s beloved Guinea Pig ‘Charlie’ (above), passed away, aged 3, while we were away on holidays last month. He died only a few hours before we returned home in fact. Not the happiest homecoming! Izzy had had Charlie since she was 3, so he was quite an important part of her life.

Poppy and Daisy Collage

On Saturday we brought home a pair of females, that way they have company while Izzy is at school (or on holidays!).

Poppy and Daisy

Poppy on the left is a Texel cross with the cutest coat, and Daisy is a Merino who looks a bit straggly at the moment. Apparently when her hair grows it will be curly and look like a sheep. Stay tuned to see that, I’m quite intrigued after doing some research on google :-)

Happy Monday to you!

    Hi Bec!
perhaps a spinning wheel is in order for when Daisy has her hair(wool) shorn off? You could make a Daisy purse! love, Mum R

    Hello Bec!

Aww, sorry to hear you lost Charlie. But how cute are these two little ones?! They look lovely! I’m sure they will fit into your home really well and the kids will enjoy having them. We used to have guinea pigs and they were such fun! I never heard of a merino guinea pig before! Soo adorable!

    Thanks for this lovely post!

They are lovely little pets Ingrid, great for the younger kids. I hadn’t heard of the Merino breed either so it’ll be interesting to see what she looks like in a few months time.

I think so too, they’ve been spoiled rotten so far (by me too – they’re just too cute!)
