Who ever said ‘blue and green should never be seen’? I think they were very wrong
I adore the colours of the blanket I’ve just finished. The yellow and mint together with the cream remind me of the ‘Trio’ Peter’s Ice Cream that used to be a favourite of my Dad when I was younger.
Just a simple wide border in cream finished it off, along with one row of double crochet in yellow for a feature, and then my go-to for the edging – a row of picot.
Now it’s wrapped up carefully to await some more hand-crocheted goodies that will accompany it to a new boutique that’s opening in Victoria. More on that later!
Minty Crochet Baby Blanket Particulars
Pattern: Solid Granny Squares – similar pattern here
Yarn: Bendigo Woollen Mills Luxury 8ply in Baby Mint, Citrus, Lake, Stone and Cream
Joining Technique: I placed squares wrong sides together, and double-crocheted (UK) through middle loops only. I also crocheted through the middle loops of the corner chains. The outer loops of the squares that you haven’t crocheted through act as a kind of raised ‘border’ for each square.
Border: 3 rows of treble (UK) using joining colour, 1 row of contrasting dc, 1 more row of treble using joining colour again, and then a picot edge in 2nd contrast colour.
And one last pic – of course if there’s a nice new crochet blanket on the bed, the kitten won’t be far away!
