Another finished blanket to share!
This time I used the lovely Bendigo Woollen Mills Luxury 8ply again – a similar colour palette to the Solid Minty Crochet Blanket, but omitting the ‘lake’ and adding ‘lotus’ which is a beautiful ‘new for 2015’ coral-orange colour.
I had intended to make this blanket up in the classic granny stripe, but at the last moment decided to try out the Cosy Stripe pattern from Attic24.
I absolutely love it! I thought the rows of treble between might get a little boring, but it didn’t, and the finished texture is really lovely. Not to ‘holey’ and not too heavy and solid. I’ll definitely be using this pattern again.
The colour sequence was supposed to be a simple repeat of two rows per colour, but when I reached the second stripe of white, I realised the colour/pattern sequence would remain the same – ie. the lemon would always be the solid rows, and the stone colour would always be the granny rows etc. By making every second white stripe 4 rows instead of 2, this solved the problem.
For the border I followed Lucy’s instructions for the base row, and then continued this pattern (2tr into each 1ch space) for a few more rounds. The final edge was one double crochet (UK) into each 1ch space with 2 chain in between.
Here is the blanket together with the Minty blanket – they are a perfect match
Currently I’m working on the border of blanket no. 4 which Mum kindly crocheted up for me, so I’ll be back with another blanket post soon!
