crochet for a cause :: part three

Crochet for a cause

I’ve been busy crocheting the past 2 weeks, finishing up some squares for our current Squares with Prayers project. You can read more about this ongoing charity crochet project that I participate in here in my previous post.

My squares were handed to the organisers today, and here is what I contributed:

Yarn Clouds Crochet Square Collage 2

Yarn Clouds‘ in two colourways – both 12 inches square

12 inch squares crochet collage

Left: ‘Starfire‘ and Right: ‘Lemony Lime Citrus Square‘ – both 12 inches square

Granny Square Collage

Left: ‘Chocolate Box’ from 200 Crochet Blocks by Jan Eaton (with extra rounds to bring it up to 12 inches) Right: Traditional Granny Squares – 6 inches square

I didn’t have a chance to block all of the squares, so some are shown here in all of their wonky glory, but because they’ll be sewn up into a blanket it won’t really matter so long as they’re the right size.

I enjoyed working with this autumnal colour palette. Most of these colours are Stylecraft Special DK in Copper, Gold, Parchment, Grey & Cream. The lighter grey and the cherry red were acrylics bought at my local craft store.

The Yarn Clouds square was my favourite, here’s a little closeup of the detail:

Interested to see what our last project looked like when complete?

I have permission to share it with you – it turned out beautifully and super colourful which was the idea :-)

Now I’m looking forward to seeing how our current project comes together. There has certainly been a lot of love & prayers for the particular recipients put in to both the planning and the making.

Have a lovely weekend!

Your granny squares are delightful, we are just approaching Autumn here in the UK so not yet explored the colours available-loving the pre-view so to speak.
    Wow-stationary swap..what a wonderful idea, love it.
