Butterfly Garden :: a quilt for Izzy

Butterflies in my Garden Izzy Quilt Blog 4

I’ve been waiting patiently to share this beautiful new addition to Izzy’s bedroom, but her room needed a small reshuffle first (read..huge cleanup!). Mum recently finished this amazing patchwork/stitched quilt and it’s so great to have it finally hanging!

Photos really do not do it justice, it’s truly a work of art! Most of the patchwork squares have either hand appliqued or stitched/embroidered detail. We just need to add some small weights to the bottom pocket to keep it straight because of it’s size.

Butterflies in my Garden Izzy Quilt Blog 5It’s been more than two years in the making, and Izzy just loves it. As do I! The fabrics are gorgeous, and I’ve never seen anyone who stitches as tiny or as neat as Mum.

On the sewing room table

Liberty Bunting WIP

Thanks to some rather dreary weather on Saturday, there was quite a lot of sewing completed. We have a ‘Fun Day’ (fundraiser) at school next Saturday, so there’s been lots of making for that, as well as my upcoming Easter Saturday market stall.

I also found some time to give my sewing room table a much needed tidy up, so this morning I set about doing a little ‘stocktake’, to see what else needs to be done. Here’s a little of what I’ve been working on the past few weeks!

Still a little way to go – if you need me I’ll be in the sewing room buried under piles of fabric and yarn :-)
